Praised by The Daily Telegraph for “his beautifully light touch and lyrical grace” and described by Gramophone as “one of the more original thinkers of his generation,” pianist Federico Colli has rapidly gained international acclaim for his imaginative interpretations, clarity of sound, and philosophical approach to music-making. 

Federico has performed as a soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including Filarmonica della Scala Milan, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra and St Petersburg Philharmonic. He has worked with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Mark Elder, Fabio Luisi, Sakari Oramo, Yuri Temirkanov, Juraj Valčuha, Thomas Søndergård and Vasily Petrenko.

A passionate recitalist and chamber musician, Federico play-directed orchestras including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in London and on tour to South Korea and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra at Helsingborg Piano Festival. He frequently collaborates with artists such as Josef Špaček, Francesca Dego, Timothy Ridout, Laura van der Heijden and Calidore String Quartet, and has appeared in solo recitals at major venues including Vienna Musikverein, Berlin Konzerthaus, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, London Royal Albert Hall, Prague Rudolfinum, Paris Philharmonie, Rome Auditorium Parco della Musica, Tokyo Nikkei Hall, Hong Kong City Hall, Seoul Kumho Art Hall, New York Lincoln Centre and Chicago Bennet Gordon Hall. He has appeared in festivals such as Klavier Festival Ruhr, Bad Kissinger and Mecklenburg-vorpommern in Germany, Dvorak International Festival in Prague, Chopin and his Europe International Festival in Warsaw, Lucerne Festival, and Ravinia Festival in Chicago.

Strong advocate of Italian music and art, in 25/26 season Federico gave a stellar performance of rarely performed Martucci Piano Concerto no. 1 with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Frizza. He also made a long-awaited debut with Teatro San Carlo in Naples performing Schumann’s piano concerto, performed in Milan with the Nordwestdeustche Philharmonie under Jonathan Bloxham, made his recital debut in Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and returned to Brescia and Bergamo International Piano Festival with which he is closely associated. 

2026-27 season will see Federico return to Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI with Schumann Piano Concerto, Orchestra della Toscana with Beethoven Piano Concerto no 5 and Nodrwestdeustche Philharmonie with Mendelssohn Piano Concerto no 1. He will also continue to build his French presence with debuts with Orchestre National de Lille and Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, and will make his Madrid debut, performing Beethoven 5^th concerto at Fundación Excelentia. In recitals, Federico debuts at Flagey in Brussels and The Frick Collection in NYC, and returns to Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Chopin Society in Vancouver, Turner Sims in Southampton and St. George’s Bristol. Together with violist Tim Ridout they will return to Vancouver Recital Society and Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw and Kraków. Summer 2027 will see him debut at the Rheingau Festival.
